Prime Minister John Key visits Energyworks

30 October 2014

“A thriving energy and resources sector in Taranaki provides export opportunities for innovators like Energyworks.” PM John Key stopped in while on the campaign trail for a look around the workshop, answering questions over afternoon tea with staff.

After admiring the array of projects in the Energyworks foyer the team was given a quick induction before heading into the office and on to the workshop. Stopping to chat to staff, John took a keen interest with the in’s and out’s of their jobs, hours  worked, training involved in qualifying and the on-going training within the industry. He later stopped to pose for photos and answer a range of questions, including taxation, self admittedly his favourite topic.

He was joined by Simon Bridges, Minister of Energy and Resources who answered questions relating to industry and health and safety legislation to all staff.

The National team were keen to visit innovative Oil and Gas leaders with-in Taranaki and were joined by Jonathan Young, Local MP for the region. TVNZ film crews wrapped up the visit, filming in front of the Energyworks premises.
